In early 1998, the Carvin Jones Band headed overseas on their
first European tour. They performed in pubs and clubs throughout
the London area. Carvin made a huge first impression, overwhelming
the crowds with his unlimited energy and incredible guitar tricks.
The London fans were begging for his speedy return to Europe.
On August 2, 1998, the Band headed to Seattle
for a short weekend tour. They performed at a fundraiser at Hooter's
on Lake Union (a benefit for Boyer's Children's Clinic) before
members of the Seattle Seahawks football team, and other prestigous
guests. The Band made such an impression that they were named
as the Seahawk's 'signature band,' to perform at Seahawk's private
events and functions.
On August 3, 1998, the Band performed at Larry's
on Pioneer Square in downtown Seattle. Nick Vigarino (award-winning
delta-blues guitarist) hosted the club's jam night, and graciously
handed Carvin the stage for a few hours. Being in Hendrix' hometown,
Carvin knew he had to put on the show of his life.
After a few standing ovations from the crowd of Hendrix fans who
had just witnessed his best Hendrix tribute performance ever,
Carvin knew he had earned the respect of this critical Hendrix
audience.
In 1999, Carvin returned for a second tour
to the UK, Holland and Ireland. The Band recorded two CDs: "Live
in London, Volumes I and II" at the Croydon's Half Moon Pub.
As word spread throughout the UK of Carvin's blazing fast-fingered
guitar talents and tributes, venues began to sell out. The local
Jazz FM radio station also gave Carvin airplay of a few of his
songs. Former Hendrix effects man, Roger Mayer, frequented Carvin's
shows and provided his support. Carvin also met the infamous Pete
Townsend, members of Humbie Pie, and other top musicians, who
came to the venues where Carvin performed.
In the Summer of 2000, Carvin returned to Europe
to release his newest CD "Hot As Hell". This successful
tour included performances at various venues throughout the United
Kingdom and nearby countries.
In March, 2001, Carvin toured Europe with the
legendary Buddy Miles. They performed at various clubs throughout
Italy, Germany and Belgium, including Kuno's in Germany, as well
as appearances on Italy's TV Show “Roxy Bar."
Returning to Europe in the Summer of 2001,
Carvin's fame had grown considerably. Performances on world-renowned
stages, with legendary guitarists/musicians, included:
Pistoia Blues in Pistoia, Italy (with John Mayall, John Hammond and Jeff Beck)
Pola Bikers Week in Pola, Croatia
Biker Weekend in Lendava, Slovenia
Blues im Park with Colosseum in Hamburg, Germany
Blues Sotto le Stelle in L´Aquila, Italy (with The Animals)
Monaghan Rhythym & Blues Festival in Ireland (with Gary Moore).
The 2001 Winter European tour gave Carvin the honor to perform along side drummer Clive Bunker, the founding member of Jethro Tull. The tour included
gigs at venues throughout Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, UK, Italy and Germany.
Carvin returned to Europe in March 2002, and
fans in Italy, Germany and Belgium had the opportunity to see
Carvin perform with the legendary British band Ten Years After,
with Ric Lee on drums, Leo Lyons on bass, and Chick Churchill
on keyboards.
In August, 2002, Carvin returned to Europe
to jam with Jimmie Vaughan and Ten Years After at the Antwerpen
Rhythm & Blues Festival in Belgium. Carvin and Ten Years After
also performed at the Aventino Blues Festival, Trasimeno Blues
Festival, and Foro Italico Roma, in Italy. The Carvin Jones Band
(with Will Troxell on bass and Flaco on drums) went on to perform
with legendary guitarist Joe Cocker, at the Heitere Open Air in
Switzerland.
A tour in the Spring of 2003 (March through
April), Carvin captured the audiences in Czech Republic, Italy,
Germany and Switzerland.
On February 28 and again on June 6, 2003, Carvin
was invited to perform with the Groove
Hawgs, a band formed by popular Denver radio DJs 'Lewis and
Floorwax' of 103.5 Fox FM, at the Stampede in Aurora, Colorado.
Carvin heads overseas for a short UK tour (on
June 13, 2003). Details forthcoming.
